Child Care

There are over 2.3 million known orphans in Uganda more than any other nation in the world today. Many children are found abandoned in garbage heaps, pit latrines, ditches, taxi parks or are left by the side of the road. Most of them have been orphaned as a result of the current HIV/AIDS epidemic in Uganda. The orphans we receive range in age from a few hours to two years, with no known parents or relatives. We are dedicated to providing these children with love, security, medical care and education. We provide them with a Home.

IVN’s partner child care centers in Uganda provide not only housing for these children, but also the chance for quality education and a hope for the future. However, they are understaffed and need virtually any and all assistance possible in continuing to offer these vitally important necessities. Volunteers/travelers can help to supply these orphans with much-needed love and companionship as well as a solid foundation to meet their needs.

No specific qualifications or previous experience is required to join the Child Care Project. However, volunteers with Child Care Profession are highly preferred. Participants should bring both enthusiasm and humility to their projects. Volunteers are expected to be independent and creative, bring ideas to the table, be respectful to organization leadership and work collaboratively.
