Programs At A Glance

IVN has established a brand new volunteer / internship program in Uganda, offering a wide range of volunteer abroad projects, including Teaching, Childcare, Sports Education, Medical, Construction and Renovation and HIV/AIDS Work. We have also added a special Administration and Organization’s Capacity Building Program where volunteers with skills in administration and office management will now be placed to work with the IVN management team in the office to help with the IVN administration work.

Depending on the specific placement in the administration, the volunteer may design and implement a project, prepare and write grant documents, research issues and prepare reports, communicate with donors and supporters, or assist with promotional work for fundraising or community outreach events, as well as some administrative support work. The volunteers on the IVN management team will be required to sign up for a minimum service commitment of three months. Below are some of the administration work in which the volunteer can participate in.

  • Office Administration
  • Financial Management & Planning
  • Organizational Accounting
  • Fundraising & Grant Writing (Local & International)
  • Volunteer Coordination & Recruitment
  • Marketing & Publicity
  • Public Relations & Community Outreach
  • Logistical Support
  • Project Coordination

The need is expansive, and long-term, so your opportunity to make a significant difference through service is likewise immeasurable Think about how much you receive when you give and consider why you want to volunteer. You may have several different reasons. If you are someone who has an open mind and flexible and would like:

  • To share a skill
  • To get to know a community
  • To demonstrate commitment to a cause/belief
  • To gain leadership skills
  • To donate your professional skills
  • To have an impact
  • To learn something new
  • To make new friends
  • To explore a career
  • To do something different from your job
  • For fun!
  • For religious reasons
  • To keep skills alive
  • To be an agent of change

Then IVN is your rightful place to be!

You will work in well researched and meaningful grassroots projects, where you will give something back to deprived village communities. This endeavor will gain you valuable work experience in a very challenging and different environment. To enroll, you won’t need any skills, just the willingness to share your passion, your unconditional love and kindness while being patient and flexible.

Project Location
IVN Uganda has volunteer placements both in rural and urban places in Uganda including the following towns:

  • Kampala – Located in the central region of Uganda
  • Kamuli – located in the Eastern region of Uganda
  • Fort Portal – located in the western region of Uganda
  • Mubende – located in the central region of Uganda

Programs begin on the 1st and 3rd Monday of each month, however it is recommended that volunteers arrive before this date so you can acclimatize to the time difference before orientation. We advise you to arrive one day before your program is due to start (the day before orientation). Accommodation is provided from the Sunday night before your program starts on the Monday, however if you arrive earlier our staff will organize accommodation for you. This accommodation will cost extra but it is not expensive (expect to pay approximately US$35 per night including meals directly to the local staff when you arrive in country) and often this accommodation will turn out to be the accommodation you will be at for your entire stay. Once you have booked your flights to Uganda ensure you email your flight details to IVN to ensure you are picked up at the airport.
